Travel Media Applications organised the forum "Culture and Tourism - eDevelopment" On Friday, May 8, 2009, dedicated to development of tourism and culture using the web
and presented some of the best practices in these fields.
Mrs Marianna Sigala (Aegean University) was the main speaker in the first part dedicated to tourism and she refered to those best practices from international
destinations that resemble to Greek ones and the ways they for their promotion. A panel of speakers including Mr Dimitris Pollalis, President of Lakonia Hoteliers
Association, Mr. Evagelos Kyriakou, from Edesa Municipality, Mrs Eleni Prohori from Cyclades Development Company and Mr. Manos Matsakis from Hydra Travel, presented their
approach on ttourim promotion via the web.
In the second part, Mr Dimitris Koutoulas, from University of Patras, analysed his approach on cultural tourism and how culture in general can interact dividng it in three categories
study tours, art tours and collective art production tours and suggested way of attracting cultural tourists via the web.Mr Dimitris Efarimoglou, Managing Director of IME
(Institute of Greater Hellenism) analysed the way that the institute presents the ancient Greek world to its visitors via cutting edge virtual and interactive methods
"creating experiences" to the visitor.
